Описание
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
misc: fastrpc: Fix use-after-free and race in fastrpc_map_find
Currently, there is a race window between the point when the mutex is
unlocked in fastrpc_map_lookup and the reference count increasing
(fastrpc_map_get) in fastrpc_map_find, which can also lead to
use-after-free.
So lets merge fastrpc_map_find into fastrpc_map_lookup which allows us
to both protect the maps list by also taking the &fl->lock spinlock and
the reference count, since the spinlock will be released only after.
Add take_ref argument to make this suitable for all callers.
A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel's fastrpc.c driver. A race condition is possible between the time that the fastrpc_map_lookup() function unlocks a mutex and the reference count is increased by the fastrpc_map_get() function in the fastrpc_map_find() function. This race condition could result in a use-after-free situation, where a mapping object is freed while still being referenced by something else. This issue could lead to memory corruption or unpredictable behavior.
Отчет
Red Hat Enterprise Linux is not impacted by this CVE, as this vulnerability does not affect the specific versions or configurations of the Linux kernel used in its distributions. This ensures that users of Red Hat Enterprise Linux are not exposed to the potential risks associated with this issue and no further action or mitigation is necessary for systems running this operating system.
Меры по смягчению последствий
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
