CVE-2022-50268

Опубликовано: 15 сент. 2025
Источник: redhat
CVSS3: 5.5

Описание

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mmc: moxart: fix return value check of mmc_add_host() mmc_add_host() may return error, if we ignore its return value, the memory that allocated in mmc_alloc_host() will be leaked and it will lead a kernel crash because of deleting not added device in the remove path. So fix this by checking the return value and goto error path which will call mmc_free_host().

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel component mmc: moxart. A local attacker with low privileges could exploit this vulnerability by triggering an improper return value check in the mmc_add_host() function. This oversight can lead to a memory leak, which may ultimately cause a kernel crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) for the system.

Меры по смягчению последствий

To mitigate this issue, prevent the moxart kernel module from loading. Create a file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-moxart.conf with the content blacklist moxart. A system reboot is required for this change to take effect. This may impact systems that rely on the Moxart MMC controller.
