An issue in Wireshark before 4.2.0 allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service via the packet-bgp.c, dissect_bgp_open(tvbuff_ttvb, proto_treetree, packet_info*pinfo), optlen components. NOTE: this is disputed by the vendor because neither release 4.2.0 nor any other release was affected.
A flaw was found in Wireshark. This issue allows a remote attacker to trigger an integer overflow in the dissect_bgp_open function in the epan/dissectors/packet-bgp.c file, resulting in a denial of service.

The Wireshark package as shipped in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7, 8 and 9 is not affected by this vulnerability because the vulnerable code was introduced in a newer version of Wireshark.
