Описание
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
idpf: fix kernel panic on unknown packet types
In the very rare case where a packet type is unknown to the driver,
idpf_rx_process_skb_fields would return early without calling
eth_type_trans to set the skb protocol / the network layer handler.
This is especially problematic if tcpdump is running when such a
packet is received, i.e. it would cause a kernel panic.
Instead, call eth_type_trans for every single packet, even when
the packet type is unknown.
A vulnerability was found in the Intel IDPF (Ethernet Driver for PF) in the Linux kernel, introduced in version 6.7. This flaw causes a kernel panic when the driver encounters an unknown packet type. The issue occurs because the driver fails to call eth_type_trans to set the correct protocol handler for the packet, which is especially problematic when tools such as tcpdump are running.
Отчет
Red Hat Enterprise Linux is not vulnerable to this CVE, as it does not affect the versions or configurations of the Linux kernel used in its distributions.
Меры по смягчению последствий
Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
