CVE-2024-53165

Опубликовано: 27 дек. 2024
Источник: redhat
CVSS3: 7.8

Описание

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sh: intc: Fix use-after-free bug in register_intc_controller() In the error handling for this function, d is freed without ever removing it from intc_list which would lead to a use after free. To fix this, let's only add it to the list after everything has succeeded.

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's sh: intc component. Incorrect error handling within the register_intc_controller() function can lead to a use-after-free vulnerability. This occurs when a data structure is freed but not removed from an internal list, allowing subsequent operations to access freed memory. A local attacker could potentially exploit this to achieve privilege escalation, arbitrary code execution, or cause a denial of service.

Меры по смягчению последствий

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
