Описание
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: SOF: ipc4-topology: Harden loops for looking up ALH copiers Other, non DAI copier widgets could have the same stream name (sname) as the ALH copier and in that case the copier->data is NULL, no alh_data is attached, which could lead to NULL pointer dereference. We could check for this NULL pointer in sof_ipc4_prepare_copier_module() and avoid the crash, but a similar loop in sof_ipc4_widget_setup_comp_dai() will miscalculate the ALH device count, causing broken audio. The correct fix is to harden the matching logic by making sure that the
- widget is a DAI widget - so dai = w->private is valid
- the dai (and thus the copier) is ALH copier
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Sound Open Firmware (SOF) audio subsystem. A local user can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) and crash the system due to a NULL pointer dereference during audio pipeline setup. This issue occurs when searching for audio stream copier components, where improper validation allows non-digital audio interface (DAI) widgets sharing the same stream name to be processed without required internal data.
Отчет
This vulnerability is rated as Moderate because exploitation requires local access on systems configured with Sound Open Firmware hardware, limiting the impact to a denial of service without compromising data confidentiality or integrity. Enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux installations are typically deployed in headless server environments without active sound hardware or SOF audio pipelines, limiting overall exposure. Successful exploitation requires specific topology configurations involving Audio Link Hub copiers, making accidental or unauthorized triggering unlikely under standard operating conditions.
