CVE-2025-40171

Опубликовано: 12 нояб. 2025
Источник: redhat
CVSS3: 5.5

Описание

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvmet-fc: move lsop put work to nvmet_fc_ls_req_op It’s possible for more than one async command to be in flight from __nvmet_fc_send_ls_req. For each command, a tgtport reference is taken. In the current code, only one put work item is queued at a time, which results in a leaked reference. To fix this, move the work item to the nvmet_fc_ls_req_op struct, which already tracks all resources related to the command.

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's nvmet-fc component, which handles Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) over Fibre Channel. A local attacker with low privileges could exploit a resource management issue. This flaw occurs when multiple asynchronous commands are processed, leading to a leaked reference. This can result in a Denial of Service (DoS), making the system unavailable.

Меры по смягчению последствий

To mitigate this issue, prevent the 'nvmet-fc' kernel module from loading if NVMe over Fibre Channel functionality is not required. Create a file named /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nvmet-fc.conf with the following content:

blacklist nvmet-fc install nvmet-fc /bin/true

After creating the file, regenerate the initramfs and reboot the system for the changes to take effect. This may impact systems that rely on NVMe over Fibre Channel for storage operations. A system reboot is required for the changes to be fully applied.
