GIMP PSD File Parsing Integer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of GIMP. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.
The specific flaw exists within the parsing of PSD files. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in an integer overflow before allocating a buffer. A flaw was found in GIMP. A remote attacker could exploit an integer overflow vulnerability within the read_channel_data function during PSD (Photoshop Document) file parsing by enticing a user to open a specially crafted PSD file. This could lead to arbitrary code execution in the context of the current process.
