CVE-2026-43140

Опубликовано: 06 мая 2026
Источник: redhat
CVSS3: 5.5

Описание

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: HID: magicmouse: Do not crash on missing msc->input Fake USB devices can send their own report descriptors for which the input_mapping() hook does not get called. In this case, msc->input stays NULL, leading to a crash at a later time. Detect this condition in the input_configured() hook and reject the device. This is not supposed to happen with actual magic mouse devices, but can be provoked by imposing as a magic mouse USB device.

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's HID (Human Interface Device) magicmouse driver. A local attacker with physical access could exploit this vulnerability by connecting a specially crafted USB device. This device could send a malformed report descriptor, causing the msc->input to remain uninitialized, which leads to a system crash. This issue results in a Denial of Service (DoS) for the affected system.

Отчет

Red Hat acknowledges the upstream Linux kernel correction for «HID» as described in COMMENT_ZERO. Fixes are delivered through standard kernel errata for supported products. Operational exposure depends on whether this subsystem or driver is active in your configuration.
