Описание
A flaw in Node.js Permission Model enforcement can over-grant filesystem access across radix-tree prefix boundaries.
Under --permission, an attacker who is granted access to one path can abuse boundary handling to read from or write to paths outside the intended filesystem allowlist.
This vulnerability affects Node.js main, 22.x, 24.x, and 26.x.
A flaw in the Node.js Permission Model allows attackers to bypass --permission restrictions, enabling unauthorized read or write access to files and directories.
Отчет
This Important flaw in Node.js allows an attacker, when the Permission Model is enabled, to bypass intended filesystem access restrictions. An attacker with initial access to a permitted path could read from or write to unauthorized locations, leading to a privilege escalation within the application's sandboxing.
Меры по смягчению последствий
Avoid enabling the Node.js Permission Model by not using the --permission flag when starting Node.js applications. This prevents the vulnerable enforcement mechanism from being active. Disabling the Permission Model may remove an intended security layer if your application relies on it for sandboxing.
