Описание
RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. From 4.2.0 until 4.2.8 and 4.3.2, set_token_auth/2 inserted a bearer token from the Authorization header or access_token cookie into OAuth bootstrap JavaScript without escaping, allowing attacker-controlled token content to execute JavaScript in the management UI origin. The endpoint is exposed before authentication only when management.oauth_enabled is true, and exploitation through the cookie path additionally requires the attacker to plant an access_token cookie on the management host. This issue is fixed in versions 4.2.8 and 4.3.2.
A flaw was found in rabbitmq-server. When Open Authorization (OAuth) is enabled for the management interface, the application fails to properly sanitize authentication tokens before embedding them into the bootstrap script. A remote attacker could exploit this cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability by supplying a crafted token to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session. This can lead to unauthorized administrative actions or the exposure of sensitive session data.
Отчет
This vulnerability is assessed as Moderate severity because it requires the non-default activation of OAuth support on the management web interface, alongside victim interaction to execute arbitrary script code. In typical Red Hat deployments, RabbitMQ instances operate with internal authentication mechanisms and the management console is either restricted to administrative networks or not configured for OAuth bootstrap workflows. Consequently, default configurations are unaffected, and the blast radius is confined to browser sessions interacting with exposed administrative consoles.
