Описание
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: mt76: mt7996: fix possible NULL-pointer deref in mt7996_mcu_sta_bfer_eht()
mt76_connac_get_eht_phy_cap routine can theoretically return NULL so
check cap pointer before dereferencing it.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Wi-Fi subsystem, specifically within the mt76 driver for MediaTek mt7996 devices. This vulnerability occurs because the mt76_connac_get_eht_phy_cap routine can return a NULL pointer, which is not properly checked before being dereferenced. An attacker could potentially exploit this to cause a system crash, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS).
Отчет
This issue affects MediaTek mt7996 Wi-Fi. EHT PHY capability pointer is not checked for NULL in mcu_sta_bfer_eht. Systems without mt7996 hardware are not affected.
Меры по смягчению последствий
To mitigate this issue, prevent the mt7996e module from loading. See https://access.redhat.com/solutions/41278 for instructions.
