CVE-2026-68742

Опубликовано: 03 авг. 2026
Источник: redhat
CVSS3: 5.5
EPSS Низкий

Описание

A flaw was found in SSSD. The sss_nss_protocol_parse_addr() function in the NSS responder does not validate the addrlen field against the remaining packet body size. A local attacker can exploit this via a crafted GETHOSTBYADDR request to the NSS responder socket, causing an out-of-bounds read and process crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Отчет

This issue can only be triggered by a local attacker who can connect to the SSSD NSS responder unix socket and send crafted requests. The over-read bytes are used as a lookup key and are not returned to the client, so the impact is limited to denial of service. The sssd monitor may respawn the responder, but repeated crashes can lead to a persistent name-resolution outage for SSSD-managed users.

Меры по смягчению последствий

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
