In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfs: Fix writeback error handling
Fix the error handling in writeback_iter() loop. If an error occurs,
writeback_iter() needs to be called again with *error set to the error so
that it can clean up iteration state. Further, the current folio needs
unlocking and redirtying.
A flaw was found in the netfs component of the Linux kernel. This vulnerability arises from improper error handling in the writeback_iter() loop. When an error occurs during writeback operations, the system fails to correctly clean up iteration states and manage memory folios. This can lead to resource mismanagement and potential system instability, affecting the reliability of network file system operations.
