Security update for the Linux Kernel (Live Patch 0 for SLE 15 SP3)
This update for the Linux Kernel 5.3.18-57 fixes several issues.
The following security issues were fixed:
- CVE-2021-31440: Fixed a lack of proper validation of user-supplied eBPF programs prior to executing them. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of the kernel. (bsc#1190127).
- CVE-2021-38160: Fixed a bug that could lead to a data corruption or loss. This can be triggered by an untrusted device that supplies a buf->len value exceeding the buffer size in drivers/char/virtio_console.c (bsc#1190118)
- CVE-2021-3640: Fixed a user-after-free bug in the function sco_sock_sendmsg which could lead to local privilege escalation. (bsc#1188613)
- CVE-2021-3573: Fixed a user-after-free bug in the function hci_sock_bound_ioctl which could lead to local privilege escalation. (bsc#1187054).

Описание
This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of Linux Kernel 5.11.15. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the handling of eBPF programs. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied eBPF programs prior to executing them. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of the kernel. Was ZDI-CAN-13661.

A use-after-free in function hci_sock_bound_ioctl() of the Linux kernel HCI subsystem was found in the way user calls ioct HCIUNBLOCKADDR or other way triggers race condition of the call hci_unregister_dev() together with one of the calls hci_sock_blacklist_add(), hci_sock_blacklist_del(), hci_get_conn_info(), hci_get_auth_info(). A privileged local user could use this flaw to crash the system or escalate their privileges on the system. This flaw affects the Linux kernel versions prior to 5.13-rc5.

A privileged local user could use this flaw to crash the system or escalate their privileges on the system.

** DISPUTED ** In drivers/char/virtio_console.c in the Linux kernel before 5.13.4, data corruption or loss can be triggered by an untrusted device that supplies a buf->len value exceeding the buffer size. NOTE: the vendor indicates that the cited data corruption is not a vulnerability in any existing use case; the length validation was added solely for robustness in the face of anomalous host OS behavior.
